Company Formation in Egypt through GAFI

Company formation in Egypt is carried out through the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), either through the e-portal or Investor Service Centres. The Authority completes the remaining procedures on your behalf: commercial registration, tax card, chamber membership and social-insurance file. We prepare and follow up your file.

Steps

  1. Open an account and workspace on the Authority’s portal.
  2. Choose the legal form, enter company, partner, activity and premises information, and upload documents for review.
  3. Pay the fees by card.
  4. Electronically sign the articles of association and have signatures certified by the Real Estate Registration Office.
  5. The Authority completes Bar Association approval, Federation of Chambers membership, commercial registration, tax card and social-insurance file, then sends the documents.

Documents and legalisation

  • Certificate confirming the trade name is not confusingly similar.
  • Partners’ identity documents: ID card or passport.
  • Powers of attorney.
  • Auditor and legal adviser information.
  • Bank certificate for capital where the company type requires it.
  • Foreign founders usually require a security clearance.
  • Documents issued outside Egypt need authentication according to the issuing country; we identify the route for each file.

Typical timing

  • The Authority’s guide gives a one-working-day service time at the Investor Service Centre for joint stock and one-person companies after documents are complete.
  • Security clearance for foreign founders and documents prepared abroad may take longer.

After formation

  • The Authority completes the commercial registration, tax card, Federation of Chambers membership and social-insurance file.
